    Begaebong is a place in the north of North Korea, where local people can find a ski resort. It is the place to start the visits to Mount Paektu. I was there in may and the weather was still snowy and icy, and even if this area is supposed to be one of the best with new houses, huge sports equiments, you still can see people using snow to clean.     A wood gas powered truck, Feburary 2012. Since fuel is an issue, many of these trucks have been converted to run on wood gas. There is a furnace in the back which burns a fuel like wood, or corn husks. The gas produced from this is then used as a fuel in the engine. These trucks did not appear to be very reliable.     Anybody traveling outside of Korea occupies the Chinese cars. At the border they unhitch the Korean cars and engine. The cars are pulled over the border by a chinese engine and attatched to modern chinese cars. (Eric Testroete)

A wood gas powered truck, Feburary 2012. Since fuel is an issue, many of these trucks have been converted to run on wood gas. There is a furnace in the back which burns a fuel like wood, or corn husks. The gas produced from this is then used as a fuel in the engine. These trucks did not appear to be very reliable. Anybody traveling outside of Korea occupies the Chinese cars. At the border they unhitch the Korean cars and engine. The cars are pulled over the border by a chinese engine and attatched to modern chinese cars. (Eric Testroete)
