Gordon Young's Comedy Carpet Seen From The Top Of Blackpool Tower

A construction worker sweeps up as the final touches are completed on [Comedy Carpet] by British artist Gordon Young, the latest art installation on Blackpools promenade on October 7, 2011 in Blackpool, England. [Comedy Carpet] is a giant map immortalising the UKs favourite comedians and comic writers from the Hey Day of Music Hall to 21st century stand up and adorns the new Festival Headland beneath Blackpool Tower. The artwork took five years to compete and features catchphrases, jokes, sketches and is made up from over 160,000 letters individually cut from black and red granite and cobalt blue concrete. It will be unveiled by legendary comedian Ken Dodd on October 10, 2011. (Photo by Christopher Furlong/Getty Images)
